Question:
I fully paid my Edgars account that was R700 overdue. All has been updated with ITC on 1 September 2006, but ever since I struggle to get finance from any banks due to this bad record reflecting on my name.
I faxed proof that the account has been settled to all the banks, but they still decline to lend me any money.
I'm currently paying a lawyer R6000 to remove this default, but it doesn't look good so far. Please help!
Answer:
Many people believe that in order to get a judgment removed from one’s credit record they simply have to pay the debt. This is not the case.
The judgment has to be legally rescinded. This involves a court process and can only be achieved by using a lawyer. A R6000 fee seems excessive, because if this is the only judgment you have it should be a fairly simple process. The average fee for this is around R1500.
Your best bet is to visit the website www.credithealth.co.za. Credit Health specialises in judgment rescission and is a highly respected organisation.
